Grand Master Paik began his training in martial arts at the age of 12 in his native land Korea. He studied the Chang Moo Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do, because he was very impressed with its techniques and the qualifications of the instructors at the Chang Moo Kwan Tae Kwon Do School. After two years of intense training under Grand Master Nam Suk Lee of Seoul, Korea, Grand Master Paik earned his First-Degree Black Belt. His dedication to training won him the title of 1967 Korean National Tae Kwon Do Champion in the high school featherweight division. In 1969 Grand Master Paik again won the title of Korean National Tae Kwon Do champion. In college, he won the President Cup of Tae Kwon Do (1968 and 1969) and was captain of his school’s Tae Kwon Do team. In 1993 he immigrated to the U.S. and opened the Millbrae Tae Kwon Do Black Belt School.

After the tragedies of September 11th, Grand Master Paik offered free classes where he taught specially developed techniques to flight crews to enable them to defend themselves in confined spaces. His contribution to the fight against terrorism was covered by major televisionnetworks (ABC, NBC, CBS) and many national and local news publications (USA Today, San Jose Mercury News, The Korean Times).

Grand Master Paik has dedicated his life to the study, practice and teaching of Tae Kwon Do and its philosophies. He is one of the few Grand Masters who actively teaches his students on a daily basis.
